The Oizumi Town’s declaration of a state of emergency which was issued on January 11th will be lifted on March 1st.

Message from Mayor of Oizumi Town

Since the average number of patients in the town who were tested positive for COVID-19 in a week became “6.0” which is exceeding the criteria of the town’s declaration of a state of emergency “5.0”, the Oizumi Town’s declaration of a state of emergency was issued on January 11th. As of February 26th, the average number of patients in the town who were tested positive for COVID-19 in a week became “0.6,” which is remarkable decrease. In addition, as the request to shorten restaurants’ business based on the “Guideline for Reopening the Social Economic Action” has been removed, I will lift the Oizumi Town’s declaration of a state of emergency. In addition to that, the suspension to use public facilities will be removed with limited conditions.
We appreciate your cooperation.

Although the declaration will be lifted, problem is not yet over. We ask all residents of the town to take infection prevention measures continuously such as avoiding the three C’s (Closed places, Crowded places, Close contact setting), wearing a face mask, washing your hands, and obeying coughing manners.
Furthermore, there should be no unfair discrimination, prejudice, or bullying related to COVID-19. Do not harass or slander others.

Murayama Toshiaki, Mayor of Oizumi Town

Criteria of the emergency declaration in the future

The guideline for issuing a state of emergency declaration, which has been used since the lifting of the state of emergency declaration on May 14, in order to gradually ease the request for refraining from going out and closing down, has been reviewed in view of the current situation.

The following two criteria will be used as numerical standards, and a comprehensive judgment will be made including the situation of the spread of infection and the situation of people with unknown infection routes.

Criterion 1: Average number of new persons who tested positive per week
Criterion 2: Percentage of people with an unknown route of infection per week

If Criterion 1 is 5.0 or more and Criterion 2 is 50% or more, a declaration of emergency will be issued.
If Criterion 1 is 4.0 or more and Criterion 2 is 40% or more, a warning will be issued.
