FY2020 Extra Special Benefits for Single-Parent Households

Due to the impact of COVID-19, extra special benefits will be provided to single-parent households that a parent alone is engaging in both child-rearing and work, in consideration of the fact that single parents are experiencing particularly severe mental and physical difficulties due to increased burden on child-rearing and reduced income. There are two types of benefit: “basic benefit” and “additional benefit.”

Basic Benefit

Those who fall under any of the following can receive the benefit.

  1. Those who are receiving Child-rearing Allowance for June 2020
  2. Those whose Child-rearing Allowance for June 2020 is suspended in full due to receiving public pension benefits, etc. (not only those who have already applied for Child-rearing Allowance, but also those who have not applied for Child-rearing Allowance may be eligible).
  3. Those whose family finances have drastically changed due to the impact of COVID-19 and latest income has dropped to the level subject to the Child-rearing Allowance.
Additional Benefit

Among those who fall under 1 or 2 of the basic benefit, those whose income has also decreased due to a sudden change in household finances under the influence of COVID-19.

50,000 yen per household and additional 30,000 yen per child for the second and subsequent children

Application for the basic benefit is as follows. Details will be published as soon as they are decided.

Basic Benefit

Those who fall under 1 of the basic benefit do not need to apply. (If you do not want to receive the benefit, you need to report refusal of receiving it.)
Those who fall under 2 and 3 of the basic benefit do need to apply.
