Due to the impact of COVID-19, extra special benefits will be provided to single-parent households that a parent alone is engaging in both child-rearing and work, in consideration of the fact that single parents are experiencing particularly severe mental and physical difficulties due to increased burden on child-rearing and reduced income. There are two types of benefit: “basic benefit” and “additional benefit.”

Basic Benefit
Those who fall under any of the following can receive the benefit.
- Those who are receiving Child-rearing Allowance for June 2020
- Those whose Child-rearing Allowance for June 2020 is suspended in full due to receiving public pension benefits, etc. (not only those who have already applied for Child-rearing Allowance, but also those who have not applied for Child-rearing Allowance may be eligible).
- Those whose family finances have drastically changed due to the impact of COVID-19 and latest income has dropped to the level subject to the Child-rearing Allowance.
Additional Benefit
Among those who fall under 1 or 2 of the basic benefit, those whose income has also decreased due to a sudden change in household finances under the influence of COVID-19.
