Definition of “Close Contact”

A “close contact” is a person who was in contact with the tested positive person during the period when that tested positive person was capable of transmitting the infection (from two days before the onset of illness until the start of treatment) and who falls into one of the following categories.

  • Those who have had prolonged contact with that positive person by car, etc.
  • Those who had a conversation with that positive person for more than 15 minutes at a distance of 1 meter without a mask.
  • Those who examined, nursed or cared for that positive person without proper infection protection.
  • Those who may have come into direct contact with contaminants such as airway secretions or body fluids of that positive person.

In Gunma Prefecture, employers are required to implement infection control measures in accordance with the “Focused Epidemiological Surveillance about COVID-19 Infections” from January 21st, 2022.
